We firmly believe that you can’t deliver progressive change without centring justice, equity, diversity and inclusion. Each co-owner has committed to play an active role by putting anti-oppressive values into practice.
We’ve been working with the Social Justice Collective since 2024 to learn and co-create an action plan to ensure we stay accountable to these values and put them into practice.
Forward Action works for and with progressive causes. We actively seek to recognise and disrupt the power systems and structures that marginalise communities and uphold social inequalities, both through our work and in our own workplace, in order to create a more just world.
We’re working to build a team that reflects the communities we serve, where everyone feels a genuine sense of belonging and has real power to shape our culture and decisions – underpinned by ongoing learning and clear processes for addressing harm when it happens.
Our leaders and trustees hold themselves to the same standard, modelling anti-oppressive practice with transparency, welcoming challenge, and protecting the wellbeing of our co-owners along the way.
We carry these values into how we choose and work with partners, encouraging them to challenge oppressive structures and addressing any harmful behaviour when it arises.
And we don’t think this stops with us. We want to help the wider sector do better too, by sharing what we learn, building partnerships that shift power to marginalised and community-led organisations, and backing work that makes the sector more equitable.
